Frankie Cocozza has spoken openly about the events that led to him dramatically leaving The X Factor last week and why he isn't speaking to Gary Barlow.

Frankie has had texts from his former mentor, but has chosen to ignore them because he is so upset. Frankie told heat magazine:

CITAZIONE
“He [Gary] heard the producers were speaking about something serious and he texted and said ‘Are you alright, mate?’ and I said ‘No, I need to go though’.

CITAZIONE
“He said ‘Get your head down and get some rest.” And then I quit and I didn’t speak to him again.

CITAZIONE
“I just can’t face it. He’s texted saying, ‘Give me a call, mate’ but I feel so bad. I think I’ll completely crack up if I talk to him.”

.

In the interview, Frankie explained how he did a line of cocaine on the Saturday night (Nov 5) and was overheard talking about it by X Factor staff on the Sunday. He chose to leave after being approached by bosses on Monday morning.

He said:
CITAZIONE
“I had a line of coke. I have only ever taken six lines in my life, but that night all I can remember is taking one line, ui was so drunk when it happened, but I never took any other drugs during The X Factor. Just that one slip-up.

CITAZIONE
“We all went to Funky Buddha straight after the show on Saturday night, at about 11pm. I got so f**ked on booze. I felt the club at about 4am and went back to the apartment with a load of people and took the line. One of The X Factor bosses overheard me saying it to someone on the Sunday night and they confronted me with it on the Monday morning. I admitted it. I wasn’t going to lie. I was such an idiot. I didn’t ask what would have happened if I’d told them I didn’t want to leave..

“I regret it like you wouldn’t believe.”

Although he is avoiding Gary, Frankie said that he has stayed in touch with the finalists and wishes them the best. He said:

CITAZIONE
“They keep texting me to see how I am. Because we are genuinely mates. Everyone really cares about each other. Even Kitty.”
